About the Foundation

The SREF is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit foundation. It received its nonprofit status in 1991. It secures contributions from individuals, corporations, and foundations to distribute scholarships and grants to students and schools.

The current assets of the foundation are 1/2 million dollars.

The Rotary Club of Sebastopol has always supported and funded educational projects. Early funding for educational projects prior to the Education Foundation was provided by dues and individual contributions of club members. The Club wanted a hand in the raising the next generation of children.

The Sebastopol Rotary Education Foundation (SREF) was established in 1982 through the Sebastopol Rotary Club.

Vice President - Mark Fink, has been a State Farm agent in Sebastopol since 1980. Mark is a past Director of the Rotary Club, was the Chairman of the Great Getaway in 1999, has been actively involved in the Dictionary Project and many other programs in Rotary.

Secretary - Ron Sparrow, Branch Manager of Citibank in Sebastopol since 2004.

Treasurer - Mark McDonnell, Certified public accountant with over 20 years experience, emphasizing accounting and income tax services to small businesses, not-for-profit organizations, and individuals.

William Cole, M.D., Board Certified anesthesiologist. Practiced cardiac anesthesia in Memphis Tennessee. Clinical Associate NIH. Associate professor of Anesthesia University of Tennessee Medical School. Member of the Board of Directors of The Blood Bank of the Redwoods and the Sebastopol Senior Center.

Californial Associateion of Realtors Director for Life. Past President Sonoma County Association of Realtors. Palm Drive Hospital Board of Trustees (16 years). Past President and Founding Director of the West County Health Care Foundation. Prior Sebatopol Citizen of the Year. A member of the Rotary Club of Sebastopol for 40 years, serving as President in 1980-1981, receiving Rotarian of the Year 2002-2003. Founding Director of the Sebastopol Rotary Education Foundation.
