About the Foundation

Corporate and Nonprofit Status

The SREF is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit foundation. It received its nonprofit status in 1991. It secures contributions from individuals, corporations, and foundations to distribute scholarships and grants to students and schools.

The current assets of the foundation are 1/2 million dollars.

Our History

The Rotary Club of Sebastopol has always supported and funded educational projects. Early funding for educational projects prior to the Education Foundation was provided by dues and individual contributions of club members. The Club wanted a hand in the raising the next generation of children.

The Sebastopol Rotary Education Foundation (SREF) was established in 1982 through the Sebastopol Rotary Club.

Our Mission

The Foundation raises funds, fosters relationships, and advocates educational activities and projects that will benefit Western Sonoma Country students.

Board of Directors

President - Patti Blount, RN, MBA. Health care management in oncology research and critical nursing. Twenty-five years experience in non-profit education, organization and management. Created a mentoring program and as a member of the Sonoma County Literacy Coalition, facilitated a dictionary distribution program to school children in the western U.S.

Vice President - Ken Jacobs, Attorney, State Bar Certified Specialist in Estate Planning, Trust & Probate Law

Secretary - Jackie Moreira, Attorney practicing in Santa Rosa. Acive member of the Sebastopol Rotary Club for over 10 years. She has been active in many projects revolving around education and youth including Interact Clubs, Youth Exchange programs, Learn to Swim Program, and dictionary distribution programs.

Bill Cole, MD, Board Certified anesthesiologist. Practiced cardiac anesthesia in Memphis Tennessee. Clinical Associate NIH. Associate professor of Anesthesia University of Tennessee Medical School. Member of the Board of Directors of The Blood Bank of the Redwoods and the Sebastopol Senior Center.

Richard Power, Tax law with emphasis in real estate and partnerships, low-income housing tax credit and tax-exempt entities

Kent Seegmiller Taught school for five years before embarking on a 25 year career with IBM in sales and marketing. Member of the Board of Directors of the Santa Rosa Junior College Foundation and Village Hopecore International.
